However, his journey may not be as smooth as he expects and he may face a few hurdles on the way. In episode 7, Rio will head east towards the Yagumo region because his parents originally came from that part of the world. It prompts Rio to reveal his secret as well. For some reason, she finally confesses that she is from Japan and was reincarnated a long time ago. Later, Latifa accepts Rio’s request to travel alone. Unfortunately, she runs straight in the direction of the ferocious black wyvern who is about to attack, but luckily Rio arrives at the right time and single-handedly defeats the monster, while the rest of them flee. When he tries to convince her, she runs away, crying over the possibility that her big brother will no longer be with her. However, Latifa does not take the news well and refuses to listen to him. In the meantime, unbeknownst to all this, Rio takes Latifa for a long walk to tell her that he has to leave the village and she can’t come with him. Soon, the villagers learn about the two intruders, and just when Alma, Sara, and Orphia are about to confront them, they learn about the wyverns. However, he knows very well that wyverns are coming for the egg that he has left with his companion, while in the meantime, he reaches their cave and steals the rest of the eggs. While Rio is busy with Sara, Latifa, and Alma, the ingenious and manipulative Reiss Vulfe misguides his companion to take shelter with the griffin in the forest, promising to return soon. It kicks off the celebration of the Annual Spirit festival. In episode 6, Latifa is accepted as the resident of the demi-human village, while Rio is welcomed as a sworn friend in a formal ceremony. ‘Spirit Chronicles’ is also accessible on VRV. P.S: I’m sure you can also use some third-party app to create a keyboard shortcut that will show you the right-click menu. If you go into System Preferences–>Keyboard and Mouse–>Trackpad, you can set it up so that tapping the trackpad using two fingers will show you the right-click menu. This isn’t quite what you’re asking, but I consider the trackpad an extension of the keyboard anyway (pretty much everything but the mouse button). I use MouseZoom on my Mac mini running 10.4.7 and it works without problems. You run it from Terminal, but the pointer behaviour doesn’t change? It’s really strange that mousefix should stop working. Of course, there is quite a large contigent of Mac users who will always reply “Just accept it, it’s the way it is” anytime someone makes an objection to the way OS X works. I’m surprised not more people are bothered about this. Now I can’t seem to get it to enable itself. I got mousefix to work once (using version 1.1 on his site). I just want to forget the mouse acceleration. ![]() Regardless, it’s for graphical work, and there it might make sense. However, the acceleration slows me, and in my opinion, all other mac users down, too. When I go to Windows, one of the reasons why I’m so fast moving around is because I’m VERY used to it – this I can get over with mac. ![]() The mouse acceleration thing has me completely vexed. Next time: How on earth can I right-click (bring up the contextual menu) in OS X Finder using only my keyboard? My life would really be so much better if the OS X design team could copy a few features from the Windows XP design. It alleviates this problem, but unfortunately doesnt’ fix it completely. Through Google, I found a free application called mousefix, which attempts to adjust the settings in the mouse driver. Happily, there are settings for these things in the OS X mouse driver – they are just not exposed to the user via the GUI. And at first sight, there is nothing to do about this. In comparison, the OS X cursor feels light, but sticky. In Windows, the cursor is very responsive, and relatively little effort is required to move it. Meaning: How fast does the cursor move when you start to move the mouse? It is a bit tough to explain, but in Windows, there’s a setting for mouse acceleration. ![]() The problem is that it handles really badly. Since the keyboard shortcuts aren’t as efficient as I’d like them to be, I use the mouse more than I would in XP. (I should probably mention that using the keyboard in this fashion in OS X is not the default – it must be enabled in the System Preferences / Keyboard and Mouse settings.)īack to today’s topic: Mouse acceleration. Then it is possible to use keys to jump directly to menus, but there is no visual indication of this feature. I have to press Ctrl + F2 to get into the menu, which is more cumbersome than just pressing Alt. This is not always a perfect solution, but it’s better than OS X. After opening that menu, you can navigate inside it in the same fashion. All menus now have a letter underlined in their name, so you can navigate to the menu with the arrow keys or just by pressing the underlined key. One example is how you can navigate in application menus in Windows – you simply press the Alt key, and focus is moved to the menu bar. OS X is a lot less keyboard-friendly than Windows XP. Today’s specimen is the weird mouse handling of OS X. However, it does have its faults, and being a long-time Windows user, there are quite a few features I miss in OS X. I bought a MacBook a few weeks ago, and I’m generally happy with it. This cookie is set by GDPR Cookie Consent plugin. Grab the note to send home with your parents HERE for FREE. But for my low students who just needed more practice at home, this simple and easy system provided just that. When they master a word, I take it out of their baggie. I place the cards in a baggie and send it home in their folder with a note. I make flashcards for each student based on the words that they have not yet mastered. Parent Communicationįor students who need more sight word practice beyond what we do in the classroom, I call on parents to help. Behind each divider I keep a checklist page for each student for each of words.Īt the end of the day, I have a binder that has valuable data and keeps me on track with progress monitoring for sight words every week. Inside the binder I keep the notes that go home with the sight word baggies, student certificates, and our sight word pacing map. I like to keep everything I need all together in my binder. Even if it was the 3rd six weeks and a student was just mastering the first set, we celebrated! We celebrated each student by giving them a certificate if they mastered all of the words for those 6 weeks. They always loved being able to color more bubble gums! For each grading period, there is a new sheet. The students used their data folders to keep track of the sight words they had mastered and the ones they still needed to work on. It also allowed me to look for patterns in their reading. If they gave an incorrect response, I wrote their response. As they read the words, I used my checklist to keep track of what they got correct and what they missed. While students unpacked for the day, waited for classmates to finish up, or completed work, I listened to them read their weekly sight words. The weekly assessment only takes a minute. I found a time that didn’t interrupt regular instruction time. This made it a breeze to assess the words at the end of each week. I added the words for colors and numbers because they are just too important to leave out. I began by breaking up the Dolch sight word list into groups for each six week grading period. Let me show you what’s included and how you can use it in your classroom. Kindergarten Sight Words: An Editable Progress Monitoring Systemhas everything you’ll need in one, organized place. The stability constants of the C4-POPhen/Am(III) and C4-POPhen/Ln(III) complexes in CH3OH with perchlorate and nitrate were determined by absorption spectroscopy. NMR titration results demonstrated that only 1:1 complex of C4-POPhen with Ln(NO3)3 was formed in CH3OH system, while two complexes (1:1 and 1:2) were found when using Ln(ClO4)3 as the metal salts instead of Ln(NO3)3. The 1:2 metal/ligand complex was the predominant species in extracted organic phase by slope analysis method. Selective extraction of Am(III) over Eu(III) from highly acidic HNO3 solution (up to 3.0 M) with good selectivity and fast extraction rate was achieved by using C4-POPhen ligand. The extraction and complexation of trivalent Am(III) and lanthanide(III) with a new phenanthroline-derived phosphonate ligand, tetrabutyl-(1,10-phenanthrolin-2,9-diyl)phosphonate (C4-POPhen), was investigated by solvent extraction, absorption spectroscopy, NMR titration, luminescence spectroscopy, and theoretical computations. The similarity in UV-Vis absorption of the extracted complex of Am(III) with LII and 3+ suggests that the Am(III) ion is also coordinated by three tridentate LII ligands existing as 3+ in the organic phase of solvent extraction. In addition, to provide parallels to solvent exaction, the extracted Am(III) complex with N,N′-dimethyl-N,N′-dioctyl-3-oxa-glutaramide (DMDOOGA, LII) is also prepared and studied using spectrophotometry. The deconvoluted UV-Vis absorption spectrum of 3+ in aqueous solution is nearly identical to the diffusion reflectance spectrum of AmLI3(ClO4)3 in the solid state, indicating that the coordination geometry of the complexes is nearly the same. The crystal structure of AmLI3(ClO4)3 shows that Am(III) is coordinated by nine oxygen atoms from three LI ligands. ![]() Single crystals of AmLI3(ClO4)3 have been grown from a HClO4 solution containing Am3+ and LI. Slavery also played a part in the fur trade, as some traders and fur company employees (including Jean Baptiste Faribault and Hypolite Dupuis) utilized the labor of enslaved people. The Bonga family is just one example of the diversity and cultural exchange that resulted from the fur trade in the Northwest Territory. Often sought out for his skills as an interpreter, Bonga could speak French, English, and Ojibwe. Bonga was educated in Montreal and was well-known for his physical stature and strength. George Bonga, the son of a former slave and an Ojibwe woman, married an Ojibwe woman and was active in the fur trade during the first half of the 1800s. As a result of generations of intermarriage, large communities of individuals of diverse heritage developed, often called "mixed-bloods" or “half-breeds” during the period, and many of these individuals maintained ties to both the fur trade and Native communities. Many traders and voyageurs married Native American women and were integrated into their Native kinship networks, often trading exclusively within their particular community. At the rendezvous points, these goods were exchanged for furs, which were then sent to larger cities for shipment to the east coast. Voyageurs ("travelers" in French) were men hired to work for the fur trade companies to transport trade goods throughout the vast territory to rendezvous posts. The fur trade had a tremendous effect on Dakota and Ojibwe cultural practices and influenced US-Native economic and political relations in the 19th century, including treaty negotiations. Some Dakota and Ojibwe communities became dependent on trade goods for a certain level of prosperity and efficiency in their everyday lives. The Dakota and Ojibwe had existed for thousands of years using tools made from readily available materials, but by the 1800s trade goods had become a part of daily life for many Native communities. In exchange for these furs, French, British, and US traders provided goods such as blankets, firearms and ammunition, cloth, metal tools, and brass kettles. They harvested a wide variety of furs (beaver being the most valuable) in the region's woodlands and waterways. The Dakota and Ojibwe were the primary trappers of fur-bearing animals in the Northwest Territory. Henry Hastings Sibley, who took Bailly’s place in 1834, ran the Western Outfit of the American Fur Company and was responsible for trade with the Dakota. The post was managed by Alexis Bailly, who began running a series of trading posts that extended up the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers. Today it is called Mendota, derived from the word Bdote. The company’s headquarters was at the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers, at a post called New Hope, or more commonly called St. ![]() Both Fort Snelling and the Indian Agency were established by the US government at the junction of the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers to control and maintain the stability of the region's fur trade.īy 1823, the American Fur Company controlled the fur trade across much of present-day Minnesota. These parties worked together and each had something to gain from a stable trading environment. ![]() After the War of 1812 there were three main parties involved in the Upper Mississippi fur trade: Native Americans (primarily the Dakota and Ojibwe), the fur trading companies, and the US government. The Ojibwe were particularly influential, which led many French and British people to favor Ojibwe customs of bartering, cooperative diplomacy, meeting in councils, and the use of pipes.įollowing the American Revolution, the US competed fiercely with Great Britain for control of the North American fur trade. Trade with Native Americans was so critical to the French and British that many European Americans working in the fur trade adopted Native protocols. The Ojibwe and Dakota held powerful positions, prompting both the French and British to actively court their military and trade allegiance. For nearly 200 years afterward, European American traders exchanged manufactured goods with Native people for valuable furs. Native Americans traded along the waterways of present-day Minnesota and across the Great Lakes for centuries before the arrival of Europeans in the mid-1600s. So if nothing else, I don't want this comparison to be seen as an excuse to bag on OK. I will say for OK that unlike Sticker Star or Color Splash which were very flawed executions of a role playing game, the former is a successful attempt at being an enjoyable action adventure title (albeit with RPG elements that don't really feel like they fit anymore). I think in some respects, they're probably the most diametrically opposed Mario titles out there, perhaps only eclipsed by the contrast between something like Mario 3D Land and Mario Sunshine. Origami King is an interesting title to compare with Mario RPG. I posted this in Geno thread and given the current discussion, it felt relevant again. But I think I want to see more enemies like Kammy Koopas or Jr Troopers before I see anymore color pencil trays or roll of tape enemies. Origami is a really great idea to introduce within a world like Paper Mario. I think it still offers some really clever ideas in terms of what they are going for. Part of me kind of misses the idea of the game taking place within a story book instead of just papercraft being the entire world. The everything is paper approach feels a bit on the nose too. I think new experiences are fine but I think my concerns from modern Paper Mario stems from how much it decided to stray away from the formula that made Super Mario RPG and the first two Paper Mario games really successful. However I think my major concern or my immediate dismissal from those games comes from Tanabe's philosophy on how he needs to change the game and keep things fresh with it. While I haven't played TOK or Color Splash, I don't have much ground to speak on either game. (I figure that Mario & Luigi would be more complicated to make a spiritual successor for, but I thought I should mention it) does anyone know of any spiritual successors to any of the Mario RPGs? (think Yooka-Laylee or Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night) I know that Bug Fables is extremely similar to Paper Mario (I bought Bug Fables on the Switch, played it, and loved it), but I was wondering if there were any other games like it that I was unaware of, or games that are like Super Mario RPG or Mario & Luigi. (admittedly, I've got plenty of RPGs in my backlog, so I probably don't need another, but I'd prefer to buy any good ones now while I have the option) are any of the Mario & Luigi games on the 3DS worth picking up? I'm not sure when the 3DS's eShop is going to close, but I stopped paying close attention to the Mario & Luigi games after Bowser's Inside Story (it took me a while to buy a 3DS - it wasn't until shortly before Robin and Lucina were revealed for Smash 4, I think), so I'm not sure what I missed out on.
